spotted: a new poker house

April 17, 2010

First of all, this is not a paid post. I’m not being paid by the establishment to do this, but if they do want, they can donate on my PayPal account.wahe. Just wanna share the new poker house by the name of Poker Royale located alongside Traders Hotel in Roxas Boulevard. I learned from one of the staff that the place was running for a month, and they are still in soft openning mode. The poker house is inside a two storey building. As of the moment only the ground floor is filled with 6 small tables and one tourney size table. And the staff told me, if I remember it right, that they will be adding more tourney size tables to be place on the 2nd floor or on the ground floor.

Yeah, as far as I can notice, the place is still really new. By the looks of it; the entrance is still to be installed a CCTV cam (the holder and cables are ready execpt for the cam itself) ang their website at www.pokerroyale.ph is still unavailable. Inside, the venue is smaller compared to, ahmm… MBC in MOA, hence of the smaller size tables. You’re really be havin a friendly game with each player sitting side-by-side with a couple of inch distance. But, when I play, I prefer this kind of set-up ’cause I like to be in a funny table.LoL. The table is much more dealer friendly to ’cause the dealer wouldn’t haveto stand and extend to much of their limbs to deal cards and get chips.

Poker Royale offers the same complementary service other poker house has to offer; free unlimited ice tea and coffee, tha’ts really one thing the encouraged me to enter my first poker experience.hehe.. Where else could you drink ice tea and coffee bottom less, and take note even if your not playing, but at a friendly poker house. LoL. I liked the ambience as well. But one thing I really liked about Poker House, which for me made it better than MBC is that one can play for a minimum buy-in of 200 pesos. Whew! how good is that for a marketing strategy, it will encourage beginners to play the game.

So that’s it for now. Again I’m not a poker addict or some sort. I admit, I’ve only been inside 2 poker house, MBC and PR, I can say that I like the latter the most. So friends see you at Poker Royale’s poker tables. And before i really end thos post, I’d like to show my lucky winning hand combination for the night. \m/

Everybody who sits and plays in a poker game is a liar. Everybody is a liar around the the poker table. -maskisa

Rise of the Fallen

March 22, 2010

Yeah, I admit it, I’ve fallen for a couple of times now (specially in 2010). But who has’nt? As the saying goes, don’t count how many times you have fallen instead count your rising times. Naks… typing this thought is not easy as I first imagine it. Is it really me? Is it the new me? Or is it the real me that no ONE ever knew?

Guess what? After a couple of months of being down. I’m starting to rise back up on my own. haha. This time it’s up to me, to do the real world action and Papa Jesus Who guides and protect me every single day. This is really not me after all.haha

After months of being in disarray, I realized that really it takes two to tango but it takes ME to live my life. Life isn’t about dancing anyways. It’s not about the person around you. It’s not about where you are, it’s not about timing. It’s my every time.

Now I recently transferred to a new pod but still in the same neighborhood I grew up. Now I’m more determined to live my life to the fullest. whew! But I still live my life to the foolest sometimes. hehe. Slowly, I’m rising back up again. I plan to start a small business together with M and K. I’m still waiting to boot-up my own PC so I could do online jobs anytime.hehe. Still, I believe that you must not force yourself to work if you know you will not be happy there. Look for a happier environment.

Now I’m more matured. I’m out of my comfort  zone. It’s ME in the world. Eventhough I got friends and family, it is still me. If you want to help me, then do it financially.ehehe.. just kidding. :P

Kidding aside, recently I also bought a book entitled “DUH?!!!” by “Francis Kong”. (image is the book cover). I give credit to Ma’am Ana V for letting me read her also newly purchased book that time. And now Ialso suggest this book to those who wants to reflect and be inspired. In this book I learned new insights on God, love, family, career, friendship and life.I really recommend thisbook to everyone especially to those who have attitude problems.hehe. But this is really a good book.

To love is a decision. Being happy is also a decision. But it only takes PRIDE to change everything so learn to handle your self. -FLM on learnings from FK

Ikaw… Kayo… Ako… Sila…

October 8, 2009

I just remembered… my computer thoughts

September 9, 2009

A colleague of mine once asked me to give him a straight forward tip on how he can maximize his computer use. In reply, I told him his request was too broad, I asked him to give me a more specific subject. He paused for a while, then spoke, ” you see maskisa, I’m just an ordinary pc user. I bought my pc for one primary reason, and that is for internet usage. I use it daily for checking my e-mails, chatting, social-networking, visiting different news sites, blogging and surfing the web about anything. And yes when I do blog, I tend to download photos from my camera or mobile phone or even my usb flash drive.” He then rephrased his inquiry, “Maskisa I want to know how to make my pc secure, both online and offline. I also want to have a certain privacy if possible during my internet use. Lastly, I want to speed up my internet surfing. In short I want to know what to do, download, install, etc.. to make these things possible.”

Whew! That was something of a request back then. But once in a while, some friends and colleagues still ask me similar questions from above. So, I thought of giving and sharing my suggestions to those who have the same, if I may call it problem. But first let me give you  a quick disclaimer. I’m just your average computer/internet literate person. What I say or suggest comes from my personal experiences and personal research. I’ve done a few trial and error methods with regards to computing. Now I hold the responsibility to you if you want to try what this little sort of turorial says. It doesn’t matter whether you have genuine or original softwares installed. I believe in a saying that internet is meant to be free. (softwares included) hehe

pamahalaanG MAgulo

September 6, 2009

Inspired by MLQ

August 19, 2009

To those unaware, today marks the 131st birthday celebration of former President Manuel Luis M. Quezon. He was the first President of the Philippine Commonwealth and also known as the Father of Philippine Language. He was born on August 19, 1878 in the small town of Baler, Tayabas, now Quezon. He was a great leader during the Commonwealth era. And maybe if it wasn’t for his tuberculosis, he may have done more service to our country.

I consider Manuel Quezon as a true nationalist, in his words, actions and thoughts. As my somewhat tribute-like to him, I would just like to share one of my most remembered saying from him, and it goes like: “I prefer a government run like hell by Filipinos to a government run like heaven by Americans.” Which I think, during those time made an impact not only in our country but also in other part of the world. And what’s more memorable is his next sentence: “Because, however bad a Filipino government might be, we can always change it.”

From those two powerful sentences MLQ uttered, the latter would be the one which struck me most. Face with reality, I could see how the next generation of Filipinos failed to live up to what MLQ has said. Yes I also remember, during one point in our country’s history, we made the change MLQ was talking about. For me, that would be during the famous EDSA People power movement. But what happened after that? More so-called people power movement followed. Upto now, there are still signs indicating the presence of a bad Filipino government, and worse, a bad Filipino community.

Come to think of it maybe the “bad” problem is not only inside the Philippine government, but also those outside of it, it’s own people. I say this, change for good will never happen to our governement, our country unless every individual Filipino makes his/her own change positively.

"MAY ARAW DIN KAYO" — CdQ

August 17, 2009

Online Social Networking and Identity Theft

August 5, 2009

Recently, I’m beginning to think that online social networking is somewhat responsible for creating identity theft. Correct me if I’m wrong, online social networking simply means an online community wherin individuals who share common interests and/or activities communicate with each other through diffrent online networking services which mostly are web based. On the other hand, Google defines identity theft as a crime used to refer to fraud that involves someone pretending to be someone else in order to steal money or gain other benefits. Most online identity thefts takes place in the different online social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Friendster, MySpace etc. As an example, try to search for any famous personality in any of the above online networking sites. In the result area, if you still haven’t notice, there’s not three but more accounts created for that particular name. How would one be able to identify and prove the original, especially when most of the fake accounts also adds “original or the like” after the account name. And to make it even worst, if there’s any significant event for that particular person, then all those fake accounts would be updated. And the worst case scenario could be, that that certain person only knew how to check his/her own email, and that’s only it, no facebook or friendster etc.

Grip, Stand and Throw

August 4, 2009

     This short clip was taken shortly after a laptop launch for the press media somewhere in Taguig.  Here’s a quick recap of what has happend during the launch. The laptop was said to have an enhanced “roll cage” technology better than it’s previous models in it’s class. During the launch proper, videos were shown to the press people. The videos showed the laptop run over by a 26,000lb DOW truck then get physically abused by the “tornado chasing” team members. Although the laptop didn’t really survived as a whole (except for the cage, battery and hdd), the audience were amazed. Considering those press people could be the end-users of the laptop, then that would be a good sign of reaction from them. The event’s momentum was up (rating from 1 to 10, I gave it a 11 LoL), that everyone wants to own one of the said laptop. Going fast forward, here comes one of my favorite portion (aside from the demo portion), the Q & A portion.The first question struck the laptop team;

Question: “How much will it cost out in the market?”
Answer: “ehem….around PhP 120,000.00″
