poker pondering

February 22, 2010

Yesterday, whilst waiting for my colleagues to arrive before our scheduled draft business meeting, me and my friend decided to go and read books at Fullybooked. Upon careful scanning, I came upon this book ‘”Winning Cash Game Poker” by Carl “The Dean” Sampson. I may not be of a poker addict but I certainly know a thing or two ’bout the game.

What really caught my attention were the quotes used by the author which I could relate to myself and maybe yours’. One quote stuck on my mind, “fail to prepare, prepare to fail”, it really is closer to reality. This one really hit me hard, since the day I was able to think, see and understand the world around me. It felt like I’ve been hacked and gunned down several times while pondering on this phrase. Whew! such a reality…it bites…

Also written was (I forgot the exact words but the thought is there. LoL); “if you perservere in doing something you know is bad, and you know that you will be punish in doing it, then you have a serious discipline problem”. Lucky for me, i’m not hit that hard.hehe But I know of someone who is, especially when it comes to playing the game.

Before I end this short quick post, I would like to share one more quote from the Dean’s book (I forgot the exact words but the thought is there. LoL): “your everyday life reflects at the poker table”. I don’t encourage you to play poker or any other cash games. What I would like to share, is for you to ponder on the quotes above.
